Blue Birch Environmental demonstrates extensive expertise in environmental management and monitoring across a spectrum of projects, ranging from sizable private endeavors like the LNG Canada facility and the coastal gaslink pipeline, to smaller-scale initiatives such as highway realignment and bridge rehabilitation.

Featured Projects

Providing environmental management, monitoring and training services, Blue Birch Environmental contributed to the Sec 8 west of the Coastal Gaslink Pipeline project by serving as a Construction Monitor with a specialized focus on erosion and sediment control (ESC). Responsibilities encompassed collaborative planning with the prime contractor, developing weekly plans and schedules for ESC activities, monitoring progress, validating estimated hours and manpower, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations to enhance ESC compliance and overall progress to CGL leadership.

In an added capacity, Blue Birch Environmental was tasked with training, supporting, and coordinating a local indigenous contractor enlisted to aid in ESC management and comprehensive compliance on the spread. Overseeing five (5) crews, each consisting of five (5) members, tasked with executing the installation and maintenance of all ESC measures on site, Blue Birch Environmental delivered on-site training, guidance, and support to enhance the skills of both the company and the crews in ESC management and maintenance. This contribution played a pivotal role in advancing the proficiency of the teams involved.

Blue Birch Environmental supported Jim Dent Construction as the Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) on the Laidlaw Bluffs Highway 1 Realignment project; a Trans Mountain pipeline related scope.

Beginning in August 2018, Blue Birch Environmental successfully managed and supervised multiple contractors across diverse marine and terrestrial environments. Our team played a pivotal role in two consecutive 8-month contracts supporting Boskalis Canada. We provided comprehensive environmental monitoring services and regulatory guidance for the marine dredging phase, contributing to the significant development of the LNG export facility in Kitimat, valued at approximately $140 million for Seasons 1 & 2. The dredging operations were conducted within the permitted season from September 1 to February 15. In between seasons, we collaborated and supported Ledcor on crucial tasks, including main site clearing & grubbing activities and three substantial creek diversion projects, providing environmental management and monitoring services throughout. Lastly, in December 2020, Blue Birch Environmental compiled, prepared, coordinated, and executed Clough Pacific Joint Venture's (CPJV) on-site environmental program from the ground up, playing a crucial role in the ~$75 million LNG loading line trestle EPC scope through to November 2021. This extensive project extended 1.75 km through the Kitimat River estuary, requiring comprehensive oversight of piling and hydroacoustic monitoring to ensure overall project compliance.

Working for the prime contractor, Peace River Hydro Partners (PRHP), Blue Birch Environmental played a role in ensuring environmental compliance during a portion of early civil works on the Site C Clean Energy Project. Tasked with a diverse set of responsibilities aimed at risk mitigation and ensuring compliance, our role involved conducting regular site assessments, inspections, and audits. Additionally, we provided support, training, and guidance to five distinct construction groups, covering tunneling, crushing, earthworks, river dredging, and maintenance as it pertained to maintaining environmental compliance on site. Our hands-on approach played a crucial role in fostering a culture of compliance and proficiency across these varied construction activities.
